Professional breaking (commonly called break dancing) has evolved since it’s original origin, the 70’s New York street-dancing scene. It combines urban dance/footwork with acrobatic moves, and is performed to hip-hop music.
Rapper Snoop Dogg kicked off the inaugural competition by performing the opening ceremony at Place de la Concorde. He walked out to his hit song “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
