Lil Wayne has finally responded to being snubbed for next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, and as expected, he’s disappointed.
As previously reported, it was announced that Kendrick Lamar will perform at halftime during Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. While many expressed excitement over K. Dot becoming the first solo rapper to do the halftime show, others called out the powers that be for the missed opportunity to feature Wayne, a NOLA native.
After much speculation, Weezy broke his silence early Friday morning (Sept. 13), taking to Instagram Live to express his thoughts on the matter.
Weezy started by apologizing for the delay in his response as he had to get enough strength to respond “without breaking.” He then thanked everyone who supported him before admitting that he was hurt by the snub.
I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a let down. And for just automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that my position. So I blame myself for that.
But, I thought that was nothing better than that spot on that stage and that platform in my city. So, it hurt. It hurt a whole lot.
He later added, “It broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together.”
After once again thanking his supporters, he proclaimed that he would continue to work on himself.

Despite the snub, Wayne and his fans have plenty to look forward to, including his 7th annual Lil WeezyAna Fest on November 2, featuring the highly-anticipated reunion of the Hot Boyz. There’s also the rumored release of Tha Carter VI, which he revealed that he just finished recording earlier this month.
