HBCU alum Emanuel Wilson scores first career NFL touchdown

Former SIAC Player of the Year Emanuel Wilson made his presence felt in the Green Bay Packers’ 30-14 win over the Tennessee Titans, scoring his first career NFL touchdown.

In the third quarter, leading 27-7, Packers quarterback Malik Willis faked a handoff to the motion receiver, pitching a screen pass to Wilson out of the backfield.

The former SIAC back followed his blockers and eluded a couple of tacklers to take it to the house for the 30-yard touchdown reception.

Wilson ended the game with a career-high 50 rushing yards and two receptions for 35 yards, including his 30-yard touchdown.

In Wilson’s final collegiate season with Fort Valley State in 2022, he was named SIAC Player of the Year after posting a conference-leading 1,252 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.

With a year of college eligibility remaining, the former Wildcat ultimately decided to enter the 2023 NFL Draft. He ended up going undrafted, initially signing with the Denver Broncos before being waived and later picked up by the Packers.

He survived the final cuts, making the initial 53-man roster after leading that year’s preseason in rushing.

Through 10 games in his NFL career, Wilson averages 5.4 yards per carry and has 245 yards from scrimmage.
