The annual Southwestern Athletic Conference Council of Presidents and Chancellors’ spring meeting yielded some interesting changes to be implemented during the next year.
The SWAC men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will expand from eight to 10 qualifying teams in 2025, and all 12 schools will be able to participate in the 2026 tournament.
A new basketball schedule is also in place for next season, with the women playing on Thursdays and Saturdays and the men playing on Saturdays and Mondays.
For football, the SWAC office will provide sideline tablets for each team in 2024, providing in-game video access.
It can be distributed on the sidelines, in the locker room, and in the coaches’ booth to observe game feeds and varying camera angles from the sideline and the end zone.
All team personnel will have access to tablets, but they won’t be able to connect to other devices, project larger images, or provide data and analytics.
