The rematch of a previous Celebration Bowl drew an impressive television audience to start bowl season, according to a recent ratings report.
Jackson State’s 28-7 win over South Carolina State on Saturday — which tied for the second-largest margin of victory in Celebration Bowl history — drew an average of 2.1 million viewers on ABC, HBCU Gameday reported.
Saturday’s rating marked a 37 percent increase, peaking at 2.6 million viewers, according to the website.
The 2023 game, featuring Florida A&M defeating Howard 30-26 to win its first HBCU national title since 1999, drew 1.51 million viewers on ABC, the lowest-rated Celebration Bowl at the time.
