Delaware State University made headlines when the HBCU missed its initial flight to take on Hawaii football earlier on Tuesday.
Tuesday evening, Wertz Motor Coaches took the blame for the missed flight due to a delay in picking the team up.

Today, August 20, 2024, an internal scheduling malfunction in our reservation system led to a delay in picking up the Delaware State University football team for their flight to Honolulu, Hawaii from JFK Airport. As a result, the team missed their scheduled flight.
We deeply regret the disruption this caused to the team’s travel plans. Wertz Motor Coaches values the strong relationship we have built with Delaware State University and are committed to rectifying this issue. We have taken immediate steps to address and correct the malfunction to prevent such incidents in the future.
We sincerely apologize to Delaware State and the Delaware State University football team for this oversight and appreciate their understanding as we work to ensure a smoother experience going forward.
News of the HBCU football squad’s missed flight made news all over as it had to go into emergency mode following the missed flight to Hawaii. Officials have told media outlets they had a contingency plan should such a situation arise.
